Databases:
BasicBIOSIS covers 350 of the basic core of life science journals most easily found in college and university libraries. These journals were chosen because they are written for non-biology majors and can be easily understood by undergraduates. The database includes popular science titles not covered in other BIOSIS databases. BasicBIOSIS is a specialized database created for FirstSearch subscribers. This database is copyrighted by Biological Abstracts Inc. (BIOSIS).
EBSCO’s Encyclopedia of Animals offers in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full-text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals. Within some of the full-text, image links are available for the Windows client. Images are accessed by double-clicking any image graphic. (Source: vendor website.)
The Birds of North America Online
Provides detailed information on various species, searchable and browseable, further references, photographs, and sound recordings. Very extensive.
Indexes 6,000 journals, books, meeting proceedings, and reports in all major areas of zoology.

- Website of a major raptor rehabilitation facility in Boulder, Colorado. This site contains educational information about raptors, care and handling information, and even virtual tours of their facility, as well as an extensive list of links.
- A conservation, rehabilitation, and education facility located in Charlotte, NC. This site contains educational information on raptor species, migration, and conservation. It also includes videos, instructions on how to construct an owl nesting box, a glossary, a F.A.Q., and an excellent “Fun & Games” section, great for kids and adults alike. You can also find out more about touring this facility or taking a seminar to learn more about raptors.

- Listen to the sweet sounds of falconiformes (hawks, eagles, ospreys, etc) and strigiformes (owls).
- A fun site about the various species of owl featured in the Harry Potter books and films! This site includes some nice photographs as well as external links to further information sources about owls.

- One of the most comprehensive raptor resources available on the web. This is a great site for amateurs and experts alike. Besides offering general educational information on raptors and their facility, this site also has detailed information on conservation projects, notes from the field, a research library of journal articles and Peregrine Fund publications, press releases, an “Archives of Falconry” section, and most impressive, the Global Raptor Information Network: a comprehensive database on the distribution and population status of diurnal raptors, handbook-style species accounts, a large searchable bibliography, homepages for raptor researchers, a “Recent Raptor News” section, and links to numerous other related websites.
